40th Poem: Goodbye, My Dear

Goodbye, My Dear

Dearest, my sunflower,

This may be the last,

For I am no longer your sun

I, a mere moon, shadowed always by your sun,

Has been defeated and broken.

No longer your champion.

Dearest,

You are not mine anymore,

Never that you are ever mine,

But now I can only dream of you

Missing your bright joyous smile,

Yearning for your melodic laughter,

Grasping upon tendrils of your love.

Yet, you are a sunflower

Who needs the sun for your life

Who needs his love to grow

Who needs his light to shine

So, dearest,

Let me have a fraction of your smile

So I can dream of your beauty

Let me have a record of your laughter

A remembrance of your warmth

Let me have a memory of your kiss

So I can last the eternity

Let me have a drop of your tears

So I can fare you well.

For this is a goodbye.

And I will always be your moon.

~End~

(dedicated to my sunflower who has found her sun, my best wishes to you both)

***

Well...this is the second version and actually I am still unsatisfied since these pieces come out different from what I was thinking back when I was driving back to my home. Blekh!

Anyway, still happy reading and happy heartbroken.

;D
